Garden Water Feature

Add A Garden Water Feature To Spice Up Your Backyard Design

Perhaps you have found yourself gazing into your yard from the comfort of your patio wondering what final touch you can put on your already gorgeous landscaping.  Your yard is picturesque, yet you feel something is missing.  You want that special something that will set your yard apart and enhance the already relaxing atmosphere.   Well, the final piece of the puzzle might just come in the form of a well-chosen and well-placed garden water feature.

Fortunately for the DIY homeowner there are tons of ready made garden water features from which to choose.  And, there is something for every sized backyard – from the smallest apartment patio to the sprawling estate grounds.  Outdoor fountains, for example, can be small enough to fit on top of a pedestal or as large as a small pool.

The purpose for the garden water feature that each person chooses will depend on a variety of factors.  Some people enjoy the soothing and relaxing effects of running or trickling water.  The backyard fountain that cycles though an endless stream of water can be very calming and can transport you visually to other outdoor venues dominated by the openness and beauty of nature.

The idea behind, or the impetus for, including some kind of water feature in your garden may be to incorporate or attract wildlife.  A tucked away pond full of koi fish, over which a small bridge is placed, for example, can enhance a backyard in such a way that a tranquil Japanese tea garden is recalled.  A simple birdbath set just outside your patio door is an inviting and welcoming place for playful birds to frolic and bathe for hours.

Some very nice birdbath/waterfall combination pieces are now becoming increasingly popular.  These are wonderful additions to any patio.  Designs range from rock to stacked stone to contemporary and more.  Some are made to rest on your patio, while others are perfect for any part of the garden, including as an added feature of your in-ground pool.

Most home improvement centers have everything you need for just about any garden related water feature that comes to mind.  Easy to install pumps that will circulate water, heavy duty plastic tubs for your pond, or a variety of birdbaths and fountains are some of the items that are easy to find and affordable as well.

Of course if you want something considerably more elaborate like a huge marble fountain, for example, you’ll have to visit specialty stores that focus on large fountains and stone and masonry work.  For the larger projects, you would be well advised to consult a contractor or landscape architect.

But regardless of your surroundings and budget limitations you can rest assured that the perfect garden water feature is out there for you.  Let the soothing rush of water transport you and make your yard the paradise that you deserve.
